I Clivi “San Pietro” Friulano 2024

I Clivi was founded in 1996 by Ferdinando Zanusso, originally from the Veneto region, after living and working in Africa for forty years, before returning to Italy and his wife’s hometown in the Friuli area. His son Mario, who has a degree in Economics, joined him a few months later and now runs the estate. Ferdinando and Mario share a vision to showcase Friuli’s prized terroir — the family made an instinctive decision to focus on organic viticulture, hand-picking whole bunches which are pressed very lightly to only extract the free-run juice, with minimal cellar intervention (typically just stainless steel, no oak). The vineyards sit on Friuli’s famed clay-limestone soil called “ponca,” which lends the wines their characteristic minerality and bright acidity.
